The Department of Agri-bussiness Management deals with business aspects of agriculture production and its international trade. It encompasses the whole range of activities from agro input manufacturing to marketing the processed food for the ultimate consumer. The discipline is considered by many to become professionals and business leaders in the agriculture sector. The study of Agri-Bussiness Management includes commercialization of products, unveiling vast opportunities for value addition, packaging and exports of agricultural products, with strikingly high levels of technology. The department has organized various conferences, workshops, seminars, expert lectures, and webinars concerning enhancement in system-wide business and managerial functions performed by organizations throughout the agribusiness sector in the past. The Department of Agri-Bussiness Management prepares our students to become skilled professional for industries, business organization and management institutes who can implement their brilliant ideas in the unique context of agri-enterprises. We offer one degree program, which are designed to address a variety of student goals and industry demands.
The mission of the Department of Agri-Bussiness Management is to increase the added value of raw materials, strengthening local rural economies, food security and nutrition, and improving the quality of life in many homes at risk of exclusion and vulnerability. Moreover developing student’s capabilities to become leaders and nurture in them a commitment for integrity and ethics informed by social purpose.
The policies of globalization have taken agribusiness into the global village, opening up unprecedented opportunities as well as great challenges. These and other parallel forces of change are placing significant demand for managerial skills in the Agribusiness sector. Now a day agri-business sector has emerged as a field of prime importance as it has opened doors to a plethora of industries.
As pioneers in research and academics, Agri-Business Management faculty members along with students execute innovative research in agri-food systems, commodity and good product marketing, agribusiness and good industry sales, micro- and macroeconomics and various other sectors associated with agri-business.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
PO 1: Achieving rapid growth in the Agriculture sector through intensive skill development.
PO 2: To demonstrate research based knowledge of the legal and ethical environment impacting agriculture organizations and exhibit an understanding and appreciation of the ethical implications of decisions and to develop ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PO 3: Ability to understand and analyze the current events and issues that are occurring in agriculture and how they affect futuristic agriculture.
PO 4: Able to recognize and examine the relationships between inputs and outputs in their agricultural field to make effective and profitable agripreneurship.
PO 5: Able to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills in the field of crop production and animal husbandry.
PO 6: To get trained for climatologically records, Weather codes and Symbols, reading and recording of weather and climatic data for weather forecasting, soil data and other aspects of soil fertility and nutrient management.
PSO 1: To make the students understand the psychology of the workers, and approach to problems along with the practices followed at Agro-industry/Agribusiness Management.
PSO 2: Exposure to various aspects of entrepreneurship during the programme period.
