Department of Computer Science VGU

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering deals with information and computation. Its approach to computation and associated applications is regarded to be practical and scientific. The discipline is considered by many to be a foundation science one which makes other facts and successes a reality. The study of computer science includes the systematic study of algorithms in order to obtain, represent, process, store, communicate and access information from a wide variety of springs. The department has organized various conferences, workshops, seminars, expert lectures, and webinars concerning advances in computer science in the past. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering prepares our students to become computing experts who are equipped to address the many and varying challenges that they will encounter in their careers. We offer three degree programs, which are designed to address a variety of student goals and industry demands.

The mission of the Department of Computer Science is to develop the human and intellectual resources needed to meet the future technological challenges in the field of computing. This includes developing computer scientists and computer engineers for positions of leadership in industry, government, and academia.

Computer Science and Engineering is at the core of the information age. The explosion of data brought about in the last two decades by the revolution in digital technology and the Internet has reshaped our world, and yet its really just begun.

As leaders in research, CSE faculty members work with students of all levels, our internationally-recognized faculty conduct groundbreaking research in artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, data mining, robotics, software security, computer networking, software systems, biomedical image processing, computer vision, mobile healthcare, and the Web.
