The broad vision of the Department is to attain global visibility by developing trained human resource at par with global standards, having a high degree of international expertise, socially inclusive perspectives, cross-cultural competencies and ethical character while meeting the employment and knowledge aspirations locally.

Department of Agriculture of VGU is well poised to meet the challenges ahead that transforms agriculture sector into the engine of growth of economy by providing the human resources, skills and technology for the sustainable development of agriculture, all economic activities put to the production of biomass based land and water including crop production (agriculture) and forestry.


The curriculum and pedagogy are designed to foster creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of Agriculture. The co-curricular activities are designed to develop domain skills to prepare the students job ready besides developing leadership traits to groom them for leadership positions in their chosen fields. Deptt. of Agriculture, VGU is committed to motivate & support the students to initiate, promote and co-ordinate such research and development projects, and programmes (including demonstration projects) as are likely to be relevant to the achievement of specific objectives and problems and help in the fruitful exploitation of the natural resources.

  • ii. Facility of 550 seating capacity auditorium for organizing regular national and international seminars/symposiums/conferences/workshops.
  • iii. Twenty six different clubs including International Toastmaster club, Green Roots club, Various indoor and outdoor sports and NCC are run by the students for their own interest with holistic development.
  • iv. Course curriculum as per 5th Deans’ committee recommendations.
  • v. B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture admission through Joint Entrance Test (JET) only.
  • Vi. Facilities of Farm Instructions, Polyhouse, Hydroponics, Aloe vera processing unit, Meteorological centre and Nursery setup.

Agriculture plays a critical role in the entire life of a given economy. Agriculture is the backbone of the economic system of a given country. In addition to providing food and raw material, agriculture also provides employment opportunities to a very large percentage of the population.

  • Agriculture field offers job opportunities in horticulture, poultry farming, plant science, soil science, food science, animal science, etc. Some of the other agricultural activities that give attractive returns are horticulture, dairying & poultry farming. As a landscapers and horticultures you can get employed in hotels, health farms, resorts, etc.
  • After pursuing courses in agriculture field, you can apply for jobs in government as well as in private organizations. There are various job opportunities are available for agriculture graduate aspirants. This field can easily lead you towards the highly paid jobs.
  • After completing your postgraduate degree in agriculture, you can work as a supervisors, distributors, researcher & engineer.

Department of Agriculture

Faculty of Agriculture discipline is among Rajasthan and India’s best agriculture colleges. The department has well equipped laboratories, library and farm instructor to carryout experimental trails in agriculture and allied fields. Department gives more 85 per cent campus placement in reputed agriculture companies. Department has been carrying out internships (ICAR, CSIR, MANAGE, Saras Dairy, Freshokartz), training (IIRS, ISRO, NIAM, SAUs), seminars (national/international), workshops (based on farmers & industrial demands such as hydroponics, flying farming, terrace farming, pests & diseases management), webinars (burning topic) etc.

  • ii. Placement of candidates in different company such as Agro Star: 20; ICICI bank: 42; Waste Management: 06 and FreshoKartz: 03.
  • iii. Department teaching staffs have participated virtual training certificates of 21 days from ICAR, New Delhi and also conducted IIRS, Dehradun training programms for students.
  • iv. Department of Agriculture has conducted 03 national seminars, 02 workshops and 12 national webinars during 2020-21.
  • v. All class activities including teaching, Assignments, quizzes, projects and exams (Mid term, Practical & End term) were conducted through e-platform whenever lockdown situation was there.
  • vi. Departmental faculty members published 05 practical manual in this session.
  • vii. Total 05 candidates were awarded M.Sc. Agriculture (Agronomy) and 220 candidates were graduated in 2019-20.
