Prof. (Dr.) N.D. Mathur, President, Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur is a visionary academic leader and seasoned educator with an illustrious career spanning 47 years. He brings a wealth of experience from his extensive teaching and administrative roles across various prestigious institutions.
Prior to joining VGU, Prof. Mathur was the Dean, Jaipur School of Economics (Oct 2022 - Nov 2024) and School of Humanities and Social Sciences at JECRC University, Jaipur, from October 2021 to November 2024. Before that, he held the position of Professor of Economics and Director, School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Manipal University, Jaipur, from October 2016 to October 2021. Prof. Mathur has been a Senior Professor in the Department of Economic Administration and Financial Management at the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. In addition to his teaching contributions, he has held prominent administrative roles, including Director, University Five-Year Law College and Director, Administrative Services Pre-Training Centre (APTC) at the same university.
He is a valued member of the UGC Committee responsible for evaluating the 2(f) status of universities and has also contributed as a member of the UGC Committee for the North East Scholarship Scheme - ISHAN UDAY. Prof. Mathur stands out as one of the rare academicians to achieve full Professorship in three distinct disciplines: Economics, Commerce, and Management. Furthermore, he is a very Senior Assessor for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), playing a critical role in ensuring quality standards in higher education. Prof. Mathur is an academician par excellence and has justified various academic and administrative positions viz. Dean, Faculty of Management at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Jammu and Kashmir, from July 2005 to June 2007, and at the Central University of Rajasthan, Kishangarh, from July 2010 to July 2011. He was a member of the Rajasthan University Syndicate (2015) and the University Senate. He has also held prominent positions as the Director, UGC Academic Staff College and the University Central Library, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
Prof. Mathur is an interdisciplinary expert with extensive expertise in economics, commerce, management, academic and administrative training, and coaching. He has an impressive academic record, with approximately 70 research papers published in reputed journals, including SCOPUS-indexed publications. Under his guidance, 36 students have successfully completed their Ph.D. and post-doctoral degrees. Over the past two decades, Prof. Mathur has delivered around 3,000 special lectures as a Keynote Speaker, Chairperson, Resource Person, or Guest of Honour, showcasing his influence as a thought leader. A prolific author, he has written seven textbooks and contributed to 20 reference and edited books in the fields of commerce, management, and training.
Renowned for his expertise in academic training, Prof. Mathur specializes in soft skills training for trainers and is a frequent contributor to various UGC HRD Centres across the country. Beloved by his students for his engaging teaching style, Prof. Mathur’s oratory skills and humorous, participative approach to teaching make him an inspiring and effective educator.
Prof. Mathur is a Board Member and Academic Consultant (Projects) at Wamula International, a renowned research-based NGO in Bulimbo, Kenya. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to academic research in Economic Development, Prof. Mathur was conferred with the National Excellence Award by the National Human Rights Organization in March 2021. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam National Award in 2021. In addition, Prof. Mathur was awarded the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award conferred by Swarna Bharat Pariwar, on Teacher's Day in 2021. He was further recognized with the Award for Excellence in Education on Teacher's Day 2022 by Simply Jaipur. Most recently, in 2023, Prof. Mathur received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the INSPIRA Research Association, a highly esteemed research organization in the country, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to education and research.
