Bio

Professor Hoshiyar Singh was born in a small village Malakali (Reengus) Teh. Srimadhopur Distt. Sikar (Rajasthan) in a farmer family on 05th, July1960. He did his schooling (1977) at Reengus and B.Sc Ag , M.Sc Ag in Plant Breeding & Genetics from RCA Udaipur in 1987 and did his Ph.D. from SKN college of Agriculture Jobner by course work in 2002. He was worked as In-charge of AICRP on Wheat and Barley Division of Plant Breeding and Genetics, RARI Durgapura, Jaipur (Rajasthan). He has been actively engaged in research, training and consultancy to farmers for three decades. Professor Singh has a deep understanding of university administration ranging from policy matters to day to day functioning. He was actively involved in governing and academic bodies of SKNAU as the member of academic council. He has gained knowledge about micro facts of university administration through assignments like member of Departmental Committees, Inspection Committees, Inquiry Committees, Warden etc. Professor Singh has published 48 research papers, 2 book chapters, 35 research reports, completed 8 professional training courses also attended 42 conferences and had 2 abroad visits. As a teacher he guided 3 Ph.D. Students. On research front Professor Singh developed variety of wheat like Raj. 3765, Raj.3777, Raj.4037, Raj.4083, Raj.4120, Raj.6560, Raj.4079, Raj.4229, Raj.4238, Raj. Molya Rodhak 1 and Musk Melon variety RM 43. He was participated in several Group Meets, National & International Seminars and Symposia & Conferences and visited Minneapolis, Minnesota-USA and CIMMYT Mexico there by having wide exposure among Global Scientific Arena. At present he is Dean Agriculture VGU since February 2021.
