About CIQA

The Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) at Vivekananda Global University is an essential statutory body constituted as per the guidelines of UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020. CIQA serves as the quality backbone of all Online and Open & Distance Learning (ODL) programs offered by the University, ensuring that every aspect of academic and administrative delivery meets national benchmarks of excellence.

Functioning as an autonomous unit within the university's quality assurance ecosystem, the CIQA Office is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive policies, quality frameworks, and standard operating procedures that uphold academic integrity, learner satisfaction, faculty effectiveness, and institutional accountability.

The Office regularly monitors, evaluates, and reports on program outcomes, learner feedback, course design, teaching practices, and assessment protocols. It also facilitates periodic academic audits, prepares the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR), and advises on the continuous improvement of learning outcomes and digital infrastructure.

CIQA ensures that all distance and online learning initiatives are rooted in transparency, affordability, flexibility, and quality. It serves as a strategic pillar in VGU's mission to deliver accessible, outcome-based education that meets the evolving demands of learners and industry alike.

Objective

The objective of the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance is to develop and put in place a comprehensive and dynamic internal quality assurance system to ensure that programmes in the Open and Distance Learning mode and Online mode being implemented by the University are of acceptable quality and further improved on a continuous basis.

Functions

The functions of the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance include the following:

Learner Service Quality

To maintain quality in the services provided to learners and ensure continuous improvement in all operations of VGU.

Quality Dissemination

To identify key areas for quality maintenance, disseminate quality assurance information, and suggest qualitative improvement measures to university authorities.

Stakeholder Participation

To ensure participation of all stakeholders — learners, teachers, staff, parents, society, employers, and Government — in quality improvement processes.

Programme Project Reports

To prepare Programme Project Reports and ensure each PPR is according to UGC norms and guidelines, and put in place mechanisms for proper implementation.

Accreditation & Audit

To act as nodal coordinating unit for assessment and accreditation from NAAC and adopt measures for institutionalisation of quality enhancement through periodic accreditation and audit.

Research & Best Practices

To facilitate system-based research on creating learner-centric environments and develop and collate best practices in all areas leading to quality enhancement in services.
